Sudanese first-time director Mohamed Kordofani’s “Goodbye Julia” made history at the eighth Critics Awards for Arab Films, winning both the best feature film and best screenplay awards. The film, set in Khartoum, explores a timely morality tale just before the 2011 secession of South Sudan. Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania’s hybrid docudrama “Four Daughters” also shone, securing three prizes: Best director, best documentary, and best editing. Other notable winners include Amjad Al-Rasheed’s “Inshallah a Boy” (best actress for Palestinian star Mouna Hawa and best cinematography) and Egyptian filmmaker Morad Mostafa’s “I Promise You Paradise” (best short film). The awards ceremony, organized by the Cairo-based Arab Cinema Centre, saw 225 critics from over 70 countries cast their votes
